Below I provided you with some tips to help you adjust to bringing a new puppy into your family.
Your puppy is a new addition to your family. They are a lifelong commitment. You are responsible for providing a safe, stable, and loving home for your new pet. When bringing a new puppy into your family you must be prepared. Adding a new member to your family can be overwhelming. Below we have listed a few important things you will need to take into consideration before coming to pick up your puppy from “Gotcha Day”.
We like to advise families to research a local licensed veterinarian to establish their puppy’s care within 72 hours of obtaining your puppy. If you DO NOT get your puppy checked out by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours your puppy’s health guarantee will become void. You should call your veterinarian a month in advance to schedule your puppies’ appointments as they get booked.
A couple of weeks before your puppy leaves our home we will introduce them to crate training and other training techniques but it is upon the new family to continue the training. If that is something you feel like you will not be able to do we advise you to research local dog trainers to get their training started as soon as possible.
Puppies love to chew. Unfortunately, it’s true and it happens with every puppy. They don’t know better so if you have things in/around your house that is reachable and in range, of a puppy’s eye view it is very important that you pick those items up and put them on a high shelf or on a different location where they won’t be able to reach them.
Please try not to overwhelm your new puppy on the first day, it enters its new home. Having a puppy enter a new environment can be a stressful transition. We advise you to take it to slow the first day and let the puppy get comfortable.
